Slow Growth in Health Care Spending Puzzles Economists
Health care spending as a share of the economy is experiencing its slowest rate of growth since the government began tracking this information 50 years ago. In 2011, health care spending accounted for 17.3 percent of GDP, yet that figure dropped to 17.2 percent in 2012. Economists are trying to determine whether the decrease is a result of the recession or if the medical industry is experiencing systemic change. A recent article in the Washington Post explores the possible causes for this decline in growth - read more...

Support Advocacy that Supports Your Practice
As provisions of the Affordable Care Act continue to impact the practice of health care delivery system case management, ACMA is establishing an active voice for the practice in legislation and regulations. In meetings with CMS and Congress, ACMA leadership, members of the Public Policy Committee and your fellow ACMA members from across the country have advocated on behalf of case management professionals on issues including: the home health face-to-face requirement, observation services and the three-day stay requirement, RACs, readmissions, transitions of care and more.

As recognition of case management and its vital role in the care process grows, so does the need for advocacy to ensure case management has a seat at the table when decisions are being made and legislation and regulations are developed that will impact your daily practice.

But in order to continue to make a difference and ensure your voice is heard, we need your assistance. Help support ACMA's public policy efforts by making a donation today. The Fundraising Committee has set a public policy goal of $10,000 for this fiscal year. These funds will aid our association in pursuing relevant policy initiatives and sending members to Capitol Hill to represent case management's interests and ACMA's legislative priorities. ACMA is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, your donation is tax deductible. Donors will be recognized in Collaborative Case Management and on the ACMA website.

Help us reach our goal and provide a voice for case management. Donate today - click here.

Final Day to Nominate Members to Lead ACMA
TODAY is the last day to nominate individuals who will lead our association until 2016.

This year ACMA members will elect four board positions:
  • President-elect (Social Worker)
  • Board Member-at-Large (Nurse)
