Covering Observation Stays Toward 3 Day Stay Requirement

Posted on: 5/29/2018

Members of Congress Joe Courtney and Glenn Thompson submitted a letter to Ways and Means Committee members last week in support of bipartisan legislation, H.R. 1421, The Improving Access to Medicare Coverage Act.

This Act would restore Medicare's promise to cover post-acute care in a skilled nursing facility after a patient spends at least three days in the hospital.

The letter was submitted to Health Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Peter Roskam and Ranking Member Rep. Sander Levin and discussed at a roundtable regarding post-acute care issues on May 22.
