H.R. 1571/S.843: Improving Access to Medicare Coverage Act

A bipartisan group of lawmakers led by Congressman Joe Courtney (D-CT), Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) have re-introduced legislation, which would allow for the time patients spend in the hospital under "observation status" to count toward the requisite three-day hospital stay for coverage of skilled nursing care. ACMA has again joined several provider organizations and patient advocacy groups in endorsing the legislation.

H.R.2156: Medicare Audit Improvement Act

Congressman Sam Graves (R-MO) and Congressman Adam Schiff (D-CA) have re-introduced the Medicare Audit Improvement Act. The bill would amend title XVIII of the Social Security Act to reform the practices of recovery audit contractors under the Medicare program.
