Collaborative Case Management Issue 94

Publication Date: 12/10/2024

Abstract
This issue examines the intersection of maternal health, social justice, and health equity, with a particular focus on the systemic challenges faced by uninsured populations. It explores how lack of insurance compounds health inequities by limiting access to essential medical services, including prenatal and postpartum care, and highlights the ethical dilemmas faced by case managers in navigating these complex issues. By integrating perspectives from health policy, sociology, and ethics, the article underscores the need for comprehensive reforms to address these disparities, advocating for an inclusive health care system that prioritizes the needs of underserved communities. Ultimately, achieving health equity requires targeted efforts to dismantle the barriers that contribute to maternal health inequities, with a focus on policy changes, increased public awareness, and strategies that address the social determinants of health.
